Takanori Gomi (born September 22, 1978) is a Japanese MMA fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He is a former Shooto Welterweight Champion and was the final holder of the lightweight title from the Pride Fighting Championship. Gomi is also a four-time All Japan Combat Wrestling champion.
Gomi started boxing while he was attending Junior High School. He joined the Shooto gym in 1997 where he began training and taking part in the amateur Shooto competitions. Gomi became the Shooto world welterweight champion in 2001. He was ranked the 2005 Sherdog Fighter of the Year.
Demian Maia Baptista (born November 6, 1977) is an MMA fighter. He fights for the Ultimate Fighting Championship and is best known for his technical mastery of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
In his youth Maia trained in Judo, Kung Fu and Karate. Soon after he began to train in Jiu-Jitsu, where he holds a second-degree black belt.
He was awarded the FIGHT! Magazine Newcomer of the Year in 2008. In six fights in the UFC, Demian finished five opponents and is the only fighter to bill four times the bonus of better closing of the event, which is a record in MMA history.
Jay Dee "B.J." Penn (born December 13, 1978) is an American MMA fighter and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner who currently competes in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Penn earned a purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu under Ralph Gracie. He eventually worked his way up to a black belt and became the first non-Brazilian to win the black-belt division of the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship. He is also a published author of MMA books.
Penn became only the second fighter (Randy Couture is the other) to win UFC titles in two different weight classes. He is currently ranked by Sherdog as the #2 Lightweight fighter in the world.
